Homeowner guides

Understand your options before you decide.

Start with the question on your mind. Get a short answer, then explore the details that matter for your home.

The short answer

A useful heating proposal should explain how the system fits your home, what the project includes and how the costs were estimated. These guides help you compare options and prepare questions without choosing equipment or sharing contact details first.

What would you like to understand?

Make proposals easier to compare.

Before comparing the final price, check that each proposal answers the same practical questions.

  1. The problem: What comfort or equipment issue is the work intended to solve?
  2. The design: How were the heating and cooling needs established, and why does this equipment fit?
  3. The scope: What rooms, equipment, electrical work and related improvements are included or excluded?
  4. The winter plan: How does the system perform in cold weather, and is supplemental heat included?
  5. The money: Which costs are confirmed, which incentives are conditional and what assumptions support running-cost estimates?
  6. The handover: What operating instructions, warranty terms and service contacts will you receive?

Bring what you know. Ask about what you don’t.

Your existing system

Its type, fuel and any known problems. Photos of equipment labels can help identify it; you do not need to diagnose it yourself.

Your comfort priorities

Rooms that run hot or cold, noise, cooling needs and any plans to renovate or change how rooms are used.

Your questions and budget

Recent energy bills, timing constraints, financing questions and the tradeoffs you want a proposal to explain.
